Top 10: Best Gluten Free Food in London

If you’re Gluten Free and on the hunt for delicious tasty options I’ve compiled just the list for you! From indulgent desserts to healthy salads, there’s something for everyone with plenty of dairy free and vegan options too.

London’s food possibilities are endless, you could easily eat out everyday for a year (if you had the money of course) and only just scratch the surface. And when it comes to Gluten Free in London, we are spoilt for choice.

London has to be one of the best cities when it comes to Gluten Free, that I have ever come across. If you’re coeliac, intolerant or simply wanting to limit your gluten intake, below are a few of my favourites:

HONEST BURGER: With restaurants all across London and other major cities in the Uk, Honest Burger is food porn on a plate. They have some of the best burgers in town, and their gluten free bun is perfectly done, simply request this option when ordering. I often find that gluten free buns can be incredibly dry, but Honest Burgers have completely nailed the perfect GF bun.

THE VURGER CO: This is what plant based dreams are made of. The Vurger Co has a 100% vegan food menu using the very best ethically sourced ingredients. I was taken away by the size of the burger on my first visit. Each burger contains a large vegetable patty, topped with mayo, vegan cheese, and a variety of toppings. My favourite has to be their “Auburger” (Aubergine, chickpea, red onion and Tabasco chipotle patty with pickled red cabbage, gherkin, tomato, vegan cheese and house cumin mayo.)  Also don’t forget to order a side of their GF vegan MAC n CHEESE!

London's best gluten free breakfast

BEYOND BREAD: There is no denying that London has plenty of Gluten Free brunch options, but I’ve often found that by GF they mean a fry up with no bread. (Where’s my croissants and toasties?)  Beyond Bread is a 100% Gluten Free bakery, with fantastic options, for breakfast, brunch, lunch and everything in between. If you are stuck for time, grab one of their cinnamon rolls on the go, you won’t be disappointed, trust me!

FARM GIRL: You’ve probably seen Farm Girl pop up on your Instagram feed on more than one occasion, and there’s no surprise why you can expect to find a queue outside on the weekends, but I have to say it’s totally worth the wait. The prices are slightly high, but something you would expect from it’s central Notting Hill location.

26 GRAINS: No list of mine would be complete without a porridge option. And 26 grains hit the nail on the end every time, disclaimer: They don’t solely sell porridge but it’s too good that I find myself ordering it every time I go. The majority of the grains used are hand rolled in the kitchen to ensure the least amount of cross contamination as possible.

London's best gluten free healthy lunch

HIGH MOOD FOOD: Located just off Oxford Street, you can find this gorgeous little deli. I may be biased when it comes to High Mood Food, but I can’t rave enough about the wonderful team behind the brand. All food is freshly made on the day, with great attention to detail. The concept of the brand is focused around our gut health, packed with all the beneficial live bacteria of fermented foods. Don’t forget to try one of their delicious gluten free treats brownies too, free from any processed nasties and refined sugar.

FARMSTAND: If you find yourself in central London exploring Covent Garden, and are in need of a little pick me up.Either before your matinee theatre or shopping spree. Farmstand is the place for you. The entire menu is 100% gluten free and dairy free, with 80% being plant based, 5% sustainable fish and 15% ethical meat. For me Farmstand is like a little oasis within the hustle and bustle of tourists in the area. They offer a build your own bowl concept menu where you can choose your main and two sides.

WE ARE SQUIRREL: My go to healthy lunch option when I find myself in Kensington. Similar to Farmstand they offer a build your own salad bowl system. However I recommend you try one of their bowls on the boards. Super filling and tasty. With hot food on offer, salads, smoothies, juices there is something for everyone. The best part is that the entire place is decorated like a treehouse, literally a childhood dream.

ZIA LUCIA: I love their variety of dough options: vegetable charcoal, wholemeal and of course gluten free. All pizzas are served on a 48 hour slow fermented dough, and baked in hand-crafted wood-fired ovens. (Although all the ingredients listed are gluten free. It is important to note there could be contamination during the pizza process) I love their “La Vegana Pizza” and it’s completely dairy free.

ZIZZI: If Gluten Free wasn’t hard enough to come across, finding dairy free and gluten free options can be mission impossible! I love how easy and convenient it is to walk into a chain restaurant and find more than one option on the menu for me. My favourite has to be their Non-Dairy Rustica ZUCCA Pizza (GF option also available) Topped with a vegan mozzarella, roasted butternut squash, caramelised onions & spinach. And you cannot, I repeat cannot go to Zizzi and not try their Sticky Chocolate & Praline torte, literally obsessed and can’t see myself getting tired of Zizzi anytime soon. Make sure to sign up to their newsletter for their latest deals.

Disclaimer: Please make sure you request further information of your own when visiting and check for cross contamination before eating. As each restaurant location could be different. Let me know your favourites in the comments below!
