From sweet to savory, these toast toppings have really upped their game from plain old boring toast options. And can seriously get somebody excited about breakfast ( I know I do…!) Not to mention how great your instagram feed can look after snapping a few of your masterpieces, after all Who hasn’t seen a photo on Instagram lately of some Avocado on Toast, in picture perfect brunch spots
Well I’m here to tell you there is so much you can accomplish with toast with just a few added ingredients without having to leave the comfort of your kitchen, and keeping your pockets in tact.
Forget what you know about breakfast, and grab a dose of inspiration from some of these options, to take your toast to the next level.
BANANA + NUT BUTTER + CHIA SEEDS
This has to be my go to toast breakfast option, with it’s dose of protein, Fiber and healthy fats it fuels my morning and gives me a great start to the day. Spread your favourite kind of Nut Butter and let your imagination fly, Top with banana slices and sprinkle over some Chia Seeds.
APPLE + HONEY TOAST
Melt honey over your toast, add nut butter (… of course!) A few slices of warmed apple, sprinkled with cinnamon and drizzle over some extra honey if you want it that extra sweeter.
AVOCADO TOAST + CHILLY FLAKES
This is probably the most Instagramed toast this year, but god does it taste just as delicious as it looks. If you are going fancy slice and neatly place your avocado along your toast, or if you are like me. Just mash it up and sprinkle some chilly flakes over, and enjoy!
AVOCADO + POACHED EGG + TOMATOES
To prepare the poached eggs: Fill a saucepan with water and bring to the boil, and add 1tsp of white vinegar. For a semi yolk reduce the saucepan down to a medium heat and let cook for 2-3 minuted and for a firm yolk add an extra one or two minutes, remove with a slotted spoon and it is ready to be served on your warm toast.
If you want to add that extra chocolaty flavour to your mornings, why not make your own healthy chocolate spread. Melt some chocolate and spread it over your toast. My favourite chocolate is OMBAR CHOCOLATE a delicious and nutritious chocolate made from unroasted raw cacao. On many occasions raw cocoa can taste bitter but Ombar offer a wonderful traditional chocolaty taste with a variety of flavours. My favourite is definetly the “Coco Milk”.
RICOTTA CHEESE + BLUEBERRIES + HONEY
A varied and beautiful toast, packed with protein, fiber and antioxidants, a dessert for breakfast, ’cause why not? Also a perfect snack, and it is guilt free.
SMOKED SALMON + CREAM CHEESE + SLICED CUCUMBER
This is one of my favourite breakfasts for those mornings when you have just that little bit of extra time to prepare your food, and make the most of your morning, while either reading the paper or just relaxing.
And last but not least the BREAD!! Good quality bread makes all the difference, my favourite option is Rye Bread. The right toast provides your body with the correct nutritional needs when it is made from whole ingredients.
