How to exercise in London on a budget

Since moving to London I constantly struggle between “I’m going to live London life to the full” while on the other hand crying while I scroll through my bank account at the fact that there is no chance of saving money in this city. One thing that I’ve always enjoyed as a stress reliever is exercise either through running, workout classes or simply just getting sweaty. And one thing I love about London is it’s booming wellness scene, with new workout classes popping up on every corner, but how on earth can one workout class be the equivalent to a three course meal? As much as I love these classes it is simply unsustainable, at least for me especially since we already live in quite an expensive city.

After a year working in the wellness industry, I have come across so many affordable ways to exercise in London, that I have been really impressed by, in many occasions I have left meeting someone new as everyone is so friendly and welcoming. After some trial and error, I have rounded up a few great ways to workout on a budget and would recommend:

I couldn’t start my list any other way, not only is running completely free but it also does wonders for the body and mind, however I completely understand that running is not for everyone, and getting outside and running alone can put even the toughest of runners off. Well what if I told you, you didn’t have to? London is home to a great range of run clubs, catering to all abilities. I have been to a couple and everyone is so welcoming. I was very impressed with the running routes we did, and the attention given my the head runners, here are a couple that I would recommend you try: Adidas Runners LDN, London city runners, Lululemon run club, Parkrun, Track life LDN, Onetrack run club, Runners need just run club, Twice the Health, This mum runs, Midnight runners, Good Gym.

Many large gyms and even local ones offer free trial days, a couple even offer multiple consecutive days for free. And with a city like London you are spoilt for choice with an endless amount of possibilities of gyms to try. Once you’ve gone through the trial make sure you enquire about their membership costs and any hidden chargers if you find one of interest to you, not only are these free trials amazing for saving money but they are also a great way to find out which gym you feel comfortable in and figure out if it’s the right one for you.

There is no need to splash out on expensive gym memberships if this doesn’t sit within your monthly budget costs, London offers a great range of no frill fuss free gyms, for as little as just £20 a month. Take a look at couple of these: Fitness First, Better Gym, Energie Fitness, Anytime Fitness, Nuffield Health, Fusion Lifestyle, Fit 4 Less.

London’s wellness scene is at an all time high and I’m all for it. With a little research you can find a number of free workout classes across the city, some of my favourites are: Adidas Studio LND, Sweaty Betty Classes, Lululemon Classes.

I love how many affordable opportunities to exercise you can find, even in an expensive city like London. I’m sure there are plenty of other available options that I’ve missed so please don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments below.
